Looking for some good reading material? I have started the new Oliver Sacks book, Musicophilia. Sacks, author of The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Awakenings, is a professor of neurology and psychiatry. In this 2007 book, he takes a look at the science of music and the brain. The book is easy to read and will appeal to anyone who marvels at how we process music, learn music, perceive music, and understand music. Sacks includes many examples of patients and their experiences as he explains each topic. The chapters are short (many are less than 10 pages), making it easy to completely read a chapter in one sitting. I have read the first two sections ("Haunted by Music" and "A Range of Musicality") and I am looking forward to the rest of the book. NJ
