A Review of our Year

Reviewing our year of choir activities, we are proud of our students' accomplishments:

1. A successful camp for music theater students was held, and a tremendous amount was learned.
2. The fall choral concert, always a sell-out, was again a success.
3. The fall musical, Cats, was sold out and highly acclaimed.
4. The Concert Choir performances with The Waukesha Symphony Orchestra were outstanding performances as well as significant learning experiences.
5. Eight of our students appeared in the Wisconsin Honors choir at the Wisconsin State Music Convention.
6. Our Holiday Concert at home was meaningful and sold-out, another example of professional performances within a quality music education program.
7. Our Broadway Company served as ambassadors for Arrowhead High School and the Hartland community in their holiday caroling performances in the area.
8. We instituted a new tradition with our One Night Only Concert to feature AHS graduates who are studying music performance. This year the fund raiser brought in $15,000 which the choir department donated to the Steinway to Heaven Fund.
9. Our Broadway Company represented Arrowhead High School in their collaboration with the Hartland Community Band at the Holy Hill Concert in December.
10. Music Theater Nights, always an audience hit, was once again sold out and well-received.
11. Catherine Pfeiler and Nancy Jorgensen were both nominated for Teacher of the Year.
12. Four busloads of students (over 300 students) participated in District Solo and Ensemble. Three busloads (over 250 students) advanced to State Solo and Ensemble Competition. It represents the highest achievement for a choral program.
13. Seven AHS choir students were named to next year’s Wisconsin Honors Choir.
14. The May issue of the national publication, Music Educators’ Journal, features an article written by Cathy & Nancy.
15. Thanks to the community, our students, and the choir department, Arrowhead High School now owns a Steinway B Concert Grand Piano.
16. On May 13 The Broadway Company performed the National Anthem for The Milwaukee Brewers.
17. Both final concerts were successful culminating events, representing a year's work in the choral arts.
