I am paging through Great Singers on Great Singing by Jerome Hines. Hines interviewed 40 opera greats, eliciting detailed descriptions of their approach to breathing, support, open throat, etc. The book is definitely dated (many of those interviewed are no longer alive) but has valuable insight into the professional singer's training. Since so much of voice production is difficult to explain in words, it is enlightening to hear the pros describe their approach. Some of those interviewed include: Luciano Pavarotti, Beverly Sills, Joan Sutherland, and Marilyn Horne. NJ
